Elsberry Navy Veteran Uncovers $100,000 Prize
A U.S. Navy veteran cruised his way to a quick $100,000 payday, courtesy of the Missouri Lottery. Daniel Elliot of Elsberry won a top prize on a “$100,000 Cash Blowout” Scratchers ticket he purchased days before Christmas.
“It took me a few minutes to realize what I won,” the 45-year-old recalled, noting that he discovered he was holding a winning ticket while in the parking lot at Abel’s Quik Shop, 200 N. Main St., in Elsberry.
After the initial shock subsided, Elliot drove to his home where he triple-checked his ticket.
“Then I called my daughter and told her I won, and she called me a liar,” he shared with a laugh.
As for plans for the windfall, the grandfather-of-six is “thinking about buying a house.”
“$100,000 Cash Blowout,” a $5 ticket with a top prize of $100,000, officially started on Dec. 3, 2012.
