An avid hunter collected not one, two or even three “bucks” during deer season; rather he ended up with 10,000, but not the four-legged kind. Thirty-four-year-old Chet Strope of Centertown bagged himself $10,000 in “dough,” courtesy of the Missouri Lottery.
Strope recalled “feeling lucky” when he stopped at Mr. Convenience, 230 E. McCarty in Jefferson City, for a “$4,000,000 Cash Spectacular” ticket.
“My jaw dropped, and I kind of rubbed my eyes,” shared the heavy equipment operator, referring to the moment he uncovered the prize while taking a break from a November hunting outing.
An excited Strope, who recently celebrated his second wedding anniversary, said in addition to purchasing a “show-piece rifle” he’s been eyeing with his windfall, he also plans to make the holidays special for his wife.
“I want to surprise her on Christmas,” he explained.
As for how he’ll share the news with his other half, “It will involve some form of jewelry” and one additional detail sure to make for a relaxing time at the Strope household.
“I’m going to have Merry Maids come and clean the house for her,” he added.
“$4,000,000 Cash Spectacular” is a $20 ticket with a top prize of $4 million.
