A Campbell man was shocked to discover he was holding a Missouri Lottery Show Me Cash ticket worth $74,500 in mid-October.
Carlos McNeal, 57, explained that he and store manager Sandy Cate of Casey’s General Store, 1010 Allen Road in Campbell, often chat about their shared interest – the St. Louis Cardinals®. So, when Cate approached him, he assumed they’d be talking about their favorite team’s winning season. As luck would have it, another conversation took place instead.
McNeal recalled how Cate asked him if he’d checked his Show Me Cash tickets from the Oct. 10 drawing, because the store had sold a winning ticket. Since McNeal had some time to spare and “a bunch of tickets to check,” he began to scan his stash.
“The first three tickets said, ‘No winners,’” he shared. “The fourth one said, ‘Winner – $74,500!’ I turned around and said, ‘I’m a winner!’”
The forklift driver plans to use the windfall for a new vehicle and wardrobe.
“I’ve been praying, and it came through,” he said, adding that the prize money will enable him to “get back to even” with his bills.
As for advice for fellow Lottery players, McNeal had this to say:
“If you’re going to play, play when you can afford to. You can’t win if you don’t play!”
Show Me Cash offers a rolling jackpot starting at $50,000, which increases by at least $5,000 at each drawing. The winning numbers from the Oct. 10 drawing were: 4, 7, 14, 19 and 20.
