LOTTERY SENDS $10.7 MILLION IN FIRST TRANSFER OF FISCAL YEAR

The Missouri Lottery today transferred $10,788,174 to the Lottery Proceeds Fund for public education programs. This month’s transfer brings the total proceeds to the state since the Lottery began in 1986 to more than $1.6 billion. Approximately 30 cents of every dollar spent playing the Lottery goes to education. The Missouri Lottery’s annual contribution to public education is about 3 percent of education’s total annual funding. Each year, the Legislature appropriates Lottery proceeds to various education programs.
