A spur of the moment decision led a Nevada man to a $50,000 Missouri Lottery prize. When Ollen “Dale” Pitts stopped for gasoline at Rickets Southside Plaza, Highway B and Quail Road in Nevada, a “Bonus Word Crossword” Scratchers ticket caught his eye. As luck and fate would have it, the 59-year-old uncovered a top prize.
“I thought I won $500,” Pitts recalled. “I had my wife (Shelley) look at the ticket. She started counting the numbers. She said, ‘I believe there’s more than that on there.’”
The grandparents-of-five and recent retirees plan to share their windfall with their family.
“Bonus Word Crossword,” a $3 game with a top prize of $50,000, officially started on Aug. 27.
