The owners of Ultimate Stainless in Strafford will split a $50,000 Missouri Lottery prize. Tim and Teresa Jones of Strafford claimed a top prize from a “Moneybags” Scratchers ticket on Sept. 17. Tim bought two tickets at Break Time, 121 S. Highway 125 in Strafford, on the previous Saturday. He handed the winning ticket to his wife to scratch.
“I was scratching the ticket and started counting up the moneybags,” began Teresa. “There were 13, and I looked over and it said $50,000. He saw the look on my face and said, ‘What’s the matter? Did you win $50,000?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’”
Tim’s first reaction was to dismiss the comment. But when Teresa protested, he quickly changed his mind.
“He said, ‘I could tell by the look on your face that you were serious!’ I felt like I was going to faint!” Teresa recalled.
The couple regularly plays the Lottery and said they would continue to do so. They also said they would put the windfall in savings.
“We want to buy a different house, so we’re putting money away for that, and this is a nice chunk of it. We’re pretty conservative on money. We’ll be real careful with it. This is just an added bonus, you know?” explained Teresa.
“I’ve always liked the moneybag,” said Tim. “I don’t know why I bought two of them in a row. Probably a good thing I did!”
“Moneybags” is a $3 game that officially began June 6. More than $4 million in prizes, including three top prizes, remain in the game. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at MOLottery.com.
