Jefferson City Woman Stunned By $10,000 Lottery Prize
A Jefferson City woman bought a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket on her way to pay her water bill that left her dazed. Bobbie Brown, 58, was already excited about a $100 winning Scratchers ticket she purchased at Bee Line Snack Shop, 2205 Southridge, in Jefferson City. The clerk didn’t have enough cash to redeem the ticket, so Brown tucked it away and sprung for one more ticket, which turned out to be a $10,000 winner.
“I woke up this morning, and it was just a weird day,” began Brown. “I knew that something good or something bad was going to happen.
“I saw that one ticket, and for some reason or another, I guess by it being my favorite color, green, it kind of jumped out at me.”
Brown bought and scratched off a “$1,000,000 Payout” Scratchers ticket, uncovering the $10,000 prize in the store. She confirmed her good fortune with the clerk and then set out to confirm the win with her sister.
“I just grabbed everything and ran out,” recalled Brown. “As many times as I’ve gone to JCMG, that’s where my sister works, I could not find my way there for the world. I’m finally starting to feel the excitement.”
She eventually made it to Lottery headquarters to claim her prizes. Plans for the windfall include paying bills and scheduling dental procedures.
“I have some extensive dental work coming up,” admitted Brown. “So now, I’m going to get that done. It’s certainly going to take a load off.
“It just seems so surreal,” she continued. “I feel like I’m in somebody else’s good dream.”
The regular Lottery player said she’ll continue to play.
“Winning like this – it kind of pays off,” she said. “Just keep on keeping on.”
