Kansas City Man Wins $100,000

Gerald J. Futrell of Kansas City fell out of his chair after the July 11 Powerball drawing, but for a good reason. He had just learned that he won $100,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s Powerball. His ticket matched the five white-ball numbers drawn on July 11. "I went to the store for a print out of the numbers after the drawing," said Futrell, a 41-year-old employee of Direct Marketing Communications. "I leaned back in the chair too far (when I found out I won) and fell back to the floor." But, Futrell added, when he got up he still had managed to hold onto his ticket. He then called his wife, Jacqueline, whose reaction was much the same as her husband’s. Futrell bought his winning ticket at Presto Convenience Store, 649 E. Bannister in Kansas City. He selected his winning numbers: 10, 16, 18, 24 and 26 using the birthdays of his eight children. Futrell plans on using the money to pay bills and buy some household items.
