According to a group of credit department co-workers in Springfield, playing the Missouri Lottery together as a team makes good sense. Playfully calling themselves “The Pompous Assets,” the Lottery’s newly announced June Team of the Month has been pooling their resources together for about two years, sharing the cost of tickets and hoping to cash in on a large jackpot prize.
“We wanted to get more bang for our buck, so we started playing as a group,” said Toni Liebeck of Rogersville, who serves as the team’s Lottery coordinator.
“We like to play Powerball and Mega Millions,” she explained. “We play the one that has the highest jackpot. If a jackpot is high, we play twice a week; if it’s below $100 million, we play once a week.”
“The Pompous Assets” team also consists of: Aaron Bauer, Bryan Coleman, Koeta Crismon, Heather Griffin and Zach Whitehead, all of Springfield. Each team member takes turns buying the group’s tickets at different retailers in the area.
Liebeck said it’s the dream of hitting it big one day that keeps her team motivated.
“We discuss what we are going to buy with our winnings the day before the drawing,” she said. “Some of the stories about what we are going to buy get pretty interesting!”
For others who may be thinking about forming a lottery team of their own, Liebeck offers some simple advice.
“Have fun with it!” she said.
As the Lottery’s Team of the Month, “The Pompous Assets” team will receive a prize package of Lottery merchandise, as well as a feature on the Lottery’s website.
