Adrian Lottery Winner Shares Prize with Clerk
Carl Taylor of Adrian uncovered a $100,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket on May 22. The 40-year-old truck driver plans to “pay it forward” with a portion of his windfall by giving the clerk who sold him the winning “20X” ticket “a crisp $100 bill.”
Taylor, who stopped for gas at Murphy USA, 1720 N. 291 Highway in Harrisonville, said he was so “shocked” when he scratched off the winning ticket, he didn’t believe his eyes.
“I was at a fuel pump, and I walked up to a stranger and said, ‘Hey, can you look at this?’” Taylor recalled, referring to the winning ticket. “She said, ‘You won!’ I started hooting and hollering right there in the parking lot.”
The first-time Lottery winner said the prize money will allow him to become “debt-free.”
“I’m going to pay off all of my debt and buy a new truck,” he shared, adding that the win “relieved a lot of stress” in his life.
