When Sister Mary Concetta Torrillo of Webster Groves hit the Missouri Lottery’s Show Me Cash jackpot on May 13, it meant a $55,000 gift for the Sisters of Loretto, a convent in Kentucky she served for 30 years.
A regular Show Me Cash player, Torrillo said she enjoys playing the game for the fun of it. However, the vow of poverty she had taken ultimately led to her decision to donate the prize money, instead of claiming it for herself.
Her ticket held the winning combination of: 1, 6, 15, 25 and 29. It marked the 200th Show Me Cash jackpot-winning ticket sold since the game began on Sept. 8, 2008.
Show Me Cash offers a rolling jackpot that starts at $50,000 and increases by at least $5,000 at each daily drawing. Players select a set of five numbers between 1 and 39 or use the Quick Pick feature to allow the computer to randomly choose the numbers for them.
