ST. JOSEPH MAN WINS $50,000 TAX PAID
A St. Joseph man is $50,000* richer after matching all five numbers in the June 11 SHOW ME 5 Paydown drawing. David Bradshaw, a maintenance mechanic for Weyerhaeuser, said he plans to use the winnings to buy his wife a new car.
Bradshaw, 49, purchased his winning ticket at Ray’s Green Hills, 3225 N. Belt in St. Joseph. He said he plays the same numbers every Friday. The winning numbers were: 13, 16, 17, 24, and 28. Bradshaw said at first, he was so calm about winning that he almost forgot to tell his wife, Cindy.
SHOW ME 5 Paydown, a daily game, began Nov. 6 with a new top prize of $50,000 tax paid along with a paydown feature that, if the top prize is not won that night, the other prizes will more than double. The game also offers prizes for matching two, three, and four numbers. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 10.97.
*The Missouri Lottery will pay 28 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on its value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $73,529.41. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
