Cindy Lane was following her daily routine on May 8, when she stopped at Pringer Foods convenience store, 2 N. Livingston, in Bucklin. She fueled her car in preparation for her hour long commute to work and bought a lottery Scratchers ticket.
Her routine was soon broken up by excitement when she discovered she had won $5,000. Lane purchased a “Bonus Word Crossword” Scratchers ticket but couldn’t believe what she was seeing. She thought she had won $100 or $500, but wasn’t sure.
“I went back into Pringer’s and asked Tiffany to do an inquiry on the ticket,” explained Lane.
Tiffany Baldwin, a clerk at Pringer’s, used the Lottery terminal to confirm the ticket was a $5,000 winner. Lane, 51, called her children to deliver the news.
“They didn’t really know what to say. They were happy for me,” she said.
Lane commutes from Bucklin to her work in Moberly. Her vehicle needs a lot of attention, so she plans on purchasing new tires and getting an overdue oil change. Lane says she will put the rest of her winnings in a savings account.
“Bonus Word Crossword” is a $3 ticket that offers a BONUS WORD feature and a top prize of $50,000.
