Centerview Man Claims $50,000 Show Me Cash Jackpot
Dedication to playing Missouri Lottery games has finally paid off for a Centerview man. Henry Payne, a retired truck driver, claimed a $50,000 Show Me Cash jackpot from the April 28 drawing. Payne bought the winning Quick Pick ticket at Skyhaven Conoco, 311 Highway 50 West, in Warrensburg. Payne said he used to play all of the state Lotteries when he was driving, and still regularly plays the Missouri Lottery.
“I play them all,” he began. “I play Powerball, Lotto and Mega Millions, too. I just do Quick Pick.”
Payne bought two Quick Pick tickets for five drawings on April 25. His numbers came in on April 28. The winning Show Me Cash numbers were: 5, 17, 24, 29 and 38.
“Well, I went in there where I bought them, and they have those scanners, you know,” he recalled. “I put that thing (ticket) in there, and the screen looked different than it normally does. I thought, ‘What does that say?’ I put it in there again, and it said $50,000.”
Payne said he went out to his truck and signed the ticket before going back in to confirm what he thought he saw. When it came up $50,000 again, he said, “I ran home as fast I could.”
He doesn’t have any plans for the money, other than sharing a little with family. When asked if it would help with retirement, he said, “Oh man, you better believe it.”
Payne also said he would keep playing the Lottery.
“Oh, heck yeah,” he answered. “I don’t think I’ll play any more than I do now, but I’ll keep playing. Play, that’s all you can do. Don’t spend more than you can afford to lose.”
Show Me Cash
is a daily Draw Game with jackpots that start at $50,000. Payne is the 197th jackpot winner since the game changed in 2008. Skyhaven Conoco will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
