Kirksville Hy-Vee Sells Winning Ticket Worth $1 Million

A stop at a grocery store resulted in a $1 million prize for one Kirksville man in March. Hy-Vee, 502 Baltimore St. in Kirksville, sold Samuel Pfeiffer his winning Powerball ticket from the drawing on March 28. Pfeiffer’s Quick Pick ticket matched all five white-ball numbers drawn, making him the fourth Missouri Lottery player to win a $1 million prize since the game changed. Prior to the Jan. 15 Powerball prize structure change, Powerball players who matched all five white-ball numbers won $200,000.

Powerball is a multi-lottery game that gives players nine ways to win cash prizes with the jackpot starting at $40 million. In addition to the jackpot, the game offers second-level prizes of $1 million, third-level prizes of $10,000 and increased payouts by using Power Play.
