Breakfast Stop Results in Full Stomach and Fat Wallet
Patricia Moran of Albany will finally be able to trade in her 1990 Oldsmobile for a newer model, thanks to a penchant for a sausage and egg biscuit and an impulse decision to purchase some Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets. When the soon-to-be 70-year-old stopped for breakfast at Casey’s General Store, 1202 N. Hundley St. in Albany, she also tried her luck on two “Bingo Gold” tickets, one of which coincidentally held a $55,558 top prize.
It wasn’t until claiming her prize at a Lottery office in early April that Moran realized one of her tickets held a top prize.
“I thought that I won $3,000,” Moran revealed. “I didn’t know it was that big until I got here today.”
The retired certified nursing assistant said the windfall “will help out a lot.” In addition to purchasing a vehicle, she intends to share the winnings with her 14 grandchildren.
“And I have a great grandbaby coming up in September,” she beamed. “I thank God and my husband. I lost my husband 14 months ago, and I just thank him.”
" a $3 game with a top prize of $55,558, officially started on Feb. 22.
