Moberly Man Wins His Second Show Me Cash Jackpot

For the first time in Missouri Lottery history, the same individual has won two Show Me Cash jackpots. Vernon Southards took home a $335,384 prize in 2009, and he was back at Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City claiming a $174,000 prize from the drawing on March 23.

In both instances, the 61-year-old Moberly man used Quick Pick to select the winning numbers. Southards purchased his winning ticket from the March 23 drawing at Circle K, 1730 S. Morley St., in Moberly. The winning numbers were:  7, 14, 15, 16 and 37.

Before taxes from both prizes combined, the Norfolk Southern engineer pocketed more than half a million dollars in Show Me Cash loot.

Show Me Cash offers a rolling jackpot starting at $50,000, which increases by at least $5,000 at each drawing. Southards was the 40th and 191st Show Me Cash jackpot winner. Show Me Cash sales began on Sept. 8, 2008. To date, more than $29.6 million has been awarded in jackpot prizes in the game.
