Moberly Mom Makes $5,000 on a Missouri Lottery Ticket

Story Photo It’s been a good week for 54-year-old Mary Hofmeister of Moberly. Not only did she celebrate 24 years of marriage, but she also became a first-time Missouri Lottery winner. The mother-of-four uncovered a $5,000 prize on a “$100,000 Crossword” Scratchers ticket at Circle K, 300 W. Rollins St., in Moberly.
“I was shocked when I scanned the ticket at the store,” recalled Hofmeister.
Hofmeister and her husband, Bill, plan to use the winnings to visit their 14 grandchildren in their home state of Iowa.
“This is an unexpected anniversary present,” added Hofmeister.
$100,000 Crossword,” a $5 ticket with a top prize of $100,000 and thousands of additional prizes, officially started on Dec. 6, 2011.
