Mizzou Professor Scores Show Me Cash Stash

audio icon A Columbia man is getting ready to plan a family vacation, thanks to winning a $50,253 Missouri Lottery prize. Thomas Martin, a 47-year-old professor at the University of Missouri, said he was “quite surprised” when he realized he was holding the winning ticket from the Show Me Cash drawing on Feb. 25.

“I had played two birthdays, and I knew those were there,” recalled Martin, referring to the moment he read the winning Show Me Cash numbers on his home computer (molottery.com). “The other numbers I had just picked at random.”

As for plans for the prize money, the father-of-two will “invest some and pay some bills.” In addition, he intends to take his children, who are both students at Mizzou, to “California or Florida.”

Martin purchased his Show Me Cash ticket at Gerbes, 2900 N. Paris Road, in Columbia. The winning numbers from the Feb. 25 drawing were:  9, 13, 19, 21 and 25.

Show Me Cash offers a rolling jackpot starting at $50,000, which increases by at least $5,000 at each drawing. Martin was the 188th Show Me Cash jackpot winner since the game began in 2008.
