Kansas Woman Collects $157,340 in Club Keno Cash
A Kansas woman received more than a steak dinner when she drove to one of her favorite restaurants in Missouri. Jeannette England of Stilwell, Kan., won $157,340 on a Missouri Lottery Club Keno ticket while dining at Jess and Jim’s Steakhouse, 517 E. 135th St. in Kansas City, on Feb. 12.
“I didn’t really believe it,” England recalled, referring to the moment she saw her randomly selected Club Keno numbers appear on the monitor.
The 45-year-old mother-of-one said she and her husband, Jeff, just returned from vacation, so the windfall came in handy, because “it pretty much paid” for the trip.
The couple, who “eat a lot at Jess and Jim’s,” said they also play Club Keno there often. However, they’d never won a “really large prize” until recently.
England, who added that the entire evening “was a blur looking back,” plans to continue to dine and play Club Keno at Jess and Jim’s Steakhouse.
“It might happen again someday,” she concluded with a laugh. “Like people always say, you can’t win, if you don’t play.”
In addition to England’s prize, Jess and Jim’s Steakhouse also came out ahead. For selling the winning ticket, the restaurant received an amount equal to 1 percent of the jackpot, $1,573.40.
To play Club Keno,
players can choose how many different numbers (also called “spots”) they want to play from 1 to 10. Twenty numbers from a field of one to 80 are chosen in a computerized random Club Keno drawing held every four minutes.
