Missouri Lottery Provides A+ Students with 'Tools 4 School'

Each year, thousands of Missouri students strive to meet grade, attendance and community service requirements in order to take advantage of the A+ Scholarship Program, a program that provides funds to attend public community colleges or vocational/technical schools throughout the state. As a contributor to these scholarship funds, the Missouri Lottery is holding a special prize drawing exclusively for A+ students, as a way to highlight and reward their dedication and achievement.

At the conclusion of the March “Tools 4 School:  The A+ Giveaway” promotion, one grand-prize winner will be randomly selected to win $2,500, three first-prize winners will receive $1,000, and three second-prize winners will win $400 in prize money to put toward books, a laptop or other school essentials.

“We’re very proud to provide 74 percent of the A+ Scholarship Program’s funding for Fiscal Year 2012,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director for the Missouri Lottery. “It’s a great feeling to know that students are getting a college education directly because of the work we do here each day, and we’re happy to be able to promote this program and to award prize money through the ‘Tools 4 School’ promotion.”

From March 1-31, students who are using A+ funds, or have used them in the past, to attend a post-secondary institution are invited to enter at Molottery.com. To submit an entry, students should complete the online entry form in full, share how they benefited from the A+ program and attach a photo. The drawing will be held on April 16.

Missouri’s A+ Scholarship Program has helped 61,005 students attend community college or a career or technical school since 1997. To date, 364 public high schools across the state have been designated as A+ Schools by the State Board of Education. For more about Missouri’s A+ Scholarship Program, administered by the Missouri Department of Higher Education, visit www.dhe.mo.gov.
