Lottery Prize Sends St. Louis Man to Caesars Palace

audio icon Edward Walsh of St. Louis has “always wanted to see Vegas.” Thanks to a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket purchase, he is now going to make that dream a reality. The 53-year-old produce manager at Shop ‘n Save, 1275 N. Truman Blvd. in Festus, uncovered an instant-win Las Vegas vacation on a “Caesars” Scratchers ticket he bought while on break.

“At first, I didn’t know I won,” the father-of-two recalled, adding that he thought he had only won a “chance” at a trip.

After asking a clerk at the store to scan his ticket, he realized that he had actually uncovered one of the 25 trip packages to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas that are being awarded in the game.

“My brother-in-law lives out there, so that makes it nicer,” he shared, explaining that he and his wife of 28 years, Brigitte, are ready to “get on the plane and go!”

Walsh joked that he was “hoping for $50 or $100” when he bought the ticket, but an impromptu Las Vegas escape “will be fine, too.”

“I’m just pretty excited that I’m going to go on vacation,” he added.

“Caesars,” a $5 ticket with top prizes of $100,000 and trips to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, officially started on Feb. 11. Instant-win Las Vegas vacation packages include a trip for two to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, round-trip airfare, a deluxe hotel room at Caesars Palace, $1,000 spending cash and ground transportation to and from the airport.
