Cashier Suggests Lottery Ticket Worth $100,000

As Chanel Miller, 31, browsed the Missouri Lottery tickets available at the local Pick-A-Dilly store, the store’s cashier made a friendly suggestion that led to a $100,000 pay day for the Hannibal woman.

“She said to maybe try this one,” Miller shared, recalling what led her to purchase the “$100,000 Crossword” Scratchers ticket that yielded the game’s top prize.

It would be later, though, back at home, before she realized just how helpful that suggestion was.

“I scratched the ticket back at the house,” she explained. “There were six of us there that checked it. We checked it like 20 times!

“I thought it was going to be for $10,000, but then someone found another word,” she added with a smile, noting that that final word bumped her prize amount up.

“It’s just the luck of the draw,” her boyfriend, Steve, offered when asked about any strategy or helpful hints for other Lottery players.

As for plans for the unexpected prize money, Miller said, “I think we’re going to look for a house in the country.”

Her winning “$100,000 Crossword” ticket was purchased at the Pick-A-Dilly store located at 3115 St. Charles in Hannibal. The $5 game, which officially started Dec. 6, 2011, offers a top prize of $100,000. Remaining prizes for this game, and all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games, can be tracked at Molottery.com.
