When Clay Ebert and his girlfriend, Brooke, made a pit stop on their way home to the St. Louis area, the 23-year-old was able to parlay several small Scratchers wins into a $1,000 prize at the Break Time located at 1416 Old 63 Highway in Columbia.
“I won three in a row on some $2 tickets and then used that to buy more and won $10 on a $1 ticket,” he explained.
Up by $10, he wasn’t sure if he should stop or see if his momentum would continue. Encouraged by his previous wins, he decided to move on to a $10 game – a “$1,000,000 Payout” ticket.
“The numbers kept coming, like 10 in a row,” he said, recalling how he scratched the ticket in his car just outside the store. “I was like, ‘Wow!’”
The couple went back inside, winning ticket in hand. Brooke laughed as she shared that the cashier said, “Aren’t you happy now that he bought that last ticket?”
Ebert said he plans to celebrate by “paying off little things and taking my beautiful girlfriend to dinner tonight.”
“$1,000,000 Payout,” a $10 game that officially started Jan. 12, has a top prize of $1 million and offers a total of 20 prizes between $100,000 and $1 million. Remaining prizes can be tracked at Molottery.com.
