Columbia Man Banks $4,000 Lottery Prize
Jeffrey Williams of Columbia plays the Missouri Lottery on occasion, but it was the prompting of a good friend that led him to a $4,000 prize. Williams, 20, and his good friend Mike Jones arrived at Petro Mart, 5481 E. St. Charles Road in Columbia, on Feb. 8 to buy some sodas. Williams had some extra money, so he decided to buy a Lottery ticket.
“I had $20, and I didn’t want to spend the whole $20,” began Williams. “He (Jones) asked what number it was on, and it was his lucky number. So, I thought I would give it a shot.”
Williams bought one “$1,000,000 Payout” Scratchers ticket and the two men returned home. As he scratched the ticket there, he began to experience “something that doesn’t happen every day.”
“Every single number on the ticket matched the winning numbers,” recalled Williams. “I thought it was going to be $50, maybe $100. Finally, at the end of the ticket, he was like, ‘Dude, those are all $200!’ We went a little crazy. I was jumping for joy, I can tell you that much.”
Williams said he planned to deposit the windfall into his bank account.
“I’m going to invest it,” he declared, then hedged with, “I’m going to spend a little bit.”
In addition to sprucing up his car, there might be a little more for Scratchers tickets.
“I play one ticket and get my money back, I’m okay,” he stated. “But this one, I got way more than my money back!”
He offered some advice for other Lottery players.
“Keep your head up,” he suggested. “I would have never thought in a million years I would ever win that much. And to actually see it on paper – it was an epic moment; definitely one that’s frame-worthy.”
” is a $10 game that officially began Jan. 10. The game features more than $38 million in prizes, including four top prizes of $1 million. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at Molottery.com.
