Kansas City Bricklayer Wins $30,000 Lottery Prize
Joseph Siren of Kansas City enjoys playing the Missouri Lottery “$30 Grand” Scratchers game. When he won a few dollars on some other Scratchers tickets, he decided to buy one more ticket of his favorite game – and ended up uncovering a $30,000 top prize.
Siren went to QuikTrip, 1010 Armour Road in Kansas City, on Jan. 31 looking for a “$30 Grand” ticket. He uncovered the prize while he was still in the store.
“Everyone was screaming and giving high-fives,” recalled Siren. “I buy tickets regularly there, so the clerks were all happy that someone they knew won it.”
The 53-year-old bricklayer is currently between jobs, so he indicated that the win would “cover the house payment” and help pay the bills.
“It’s a god-send – a real blessing,” he said about the windfall.
Siren believes that his mother, who passed away about a year ago, was smiling down on him and his brother. His brother, Bret, who also lives in the Kansas City area, won an $85,000 Show Me Cash jackpot last January. Siren said he was also a fan of Show Me Cash.
“I play Show Me Cash and Lotto. I like the state games because they are only offered in Missouri. And I think they have a little better odds,” he explained.
Siren said he would continue to play the Lottery, and suggested other players do the same.
“Stick with it. It does happen,” he declared.
” is a $2 game that officially began Dec. 6, 2011. Singleton claimed the fifth top prize out of seven in the game. More than $2 million in prizes remain. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at Molottery.com.
