Someone who bought a Powerball ticket at Apple Market, 11501 E. 63rd St. in Raytown, for the Jan. 28 drawing will lay claim to Missouri’s first Match 5 $1 million prize under the game’s new prize structure. Prior to Jan. 15, Powerball players who matched all five white-ball numbers won $200,000, but, under recent game enhancements, that prize is now worth $1 million.
“We’re very excited to welcome the Missouri Lottery’s newest millionaire,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director for the Lottery. “Missouri averages 24 of these Match 5 Powerball prizes each year, and we couldn’t be happier to announce the first $1 million winner.”
The winning numbers were: 5, 33, 41, 54 and 59, and the Powerball number was 13. Powerball winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. In this case, that would be July 26.
