Nelson Man Wins $100,000 Lottery Prize
A Nelson man claimed a $100,000 Missouri Lottery prize on Jan. 23. Jerry Leimkuehler, 48, bought a winning “$1,000,000 Payout” Scratchers ticket the previous Friday at Countryside Convenience, Highway 41 and AA, in Napton. He uncovered the prize in the parking lot.
“I wasn’t really sure at first what I was seeing,” Leimkuehler began. “I thought maybe it was just me seeing doubles or something like that. Once I realized it, I was happy with the $10,000 first scratch. As I went along, I got happier.”
Leimkuehler went back into the store to verify his win. Then he hurried home to his wife, Rayetta.
“She didn’t believe me at first,” he recalled. “Then she finally realized what it was, and I got a big hug.”
This isn’t the first big win for Leimkuehler. He won $30,000 on a Scratchers ticket he bought at the same store in 2008. He said they used money from the last prize to take a trip to Walt Disney World Resort, and his three daughters have already requested a repeat.
“Well, we’ve been talking about wanting always to go back,” Leimkuehler explained. “Everybody enjoyed it; thinking about that again, maybe.”
Rayetta suggested that they might upgrade their vehicles and pay off some bills. However they decide to spend the money, they’re taking the slow approach.
“It just kind of depends,” said Leimkuehler.
“We’ll see how far it goes,” added Rayetta.
Leimkuehler said he would keep playing the Lottery and advised other players, “don’t overspend your limits.” He said he didn’t have a “favorite game,” but kept track of what games were producing winners.
“I check remaining prizes, and if most of the larger prizes are gone, I’ll go to another ticket,” he revealed.
” is a $10 game that officially began Jan. 10. The game features four top-prizes of $1 million and 16 second prizes of $100,000. Leimkuehler is the second player to claim a $100,000 prize in the game. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery game here at Molottery.com.
