LAMPE WOMAN WINS SECOND $1,000 PRIZE WHEN REDEEMING FIRST ONE

A Lampe woman doubled her holiday cash at the Missouri Lottery’s Springfield office on Tuesday. Brenda Hughes, 47, said her husband, Keith, bought her a "Holiday Cash" Scratchers ticket at Rapid Roberts in Kimberling City, and it turned out to be worth $1,000. When she and Keith took the ticket to the Springfield Lottery office to be cashed, Keith bought another "Holiday Cash" instant ticket, and he won $15. With some of that money, he bought another "Holiday Cash" ticket and gave it to Hughes to scratch. To their surprise, that ticket also turned out to be worth $1,000. "It was unbelievable," Hughes told Lottery officials. The Hughes plan to spend some of the money on Christmas gifts for their three grandchildren. They may also take a trip to Tennessee and West Virginia to visit relatives and friends. "Holiday Cash," a $5 Scratchers game, officially went on sale Nov. 3. It offers players a chance to win up to $100,000 instantly.
