Cape Girardeau Woman Spells Out $100,000 Win
A stop at the AM-PM, 1101 William St. in Cape Girardeau, gave Samantha Brasfield the opportunity to buy two Missouri Lottery “$100,000 Crossword” Scratchers tickets. When she played the game later at home, she realized that one of the tickets held the top prize - $100,000.
“I saw that there were only a couple of words left that still had letters in them,” began Brasfield. “So I counted, and then my sister counted, and then a couple of more people counted. We kept counting the letters over and over again, just to make sure. I was just happy.”
Players uncover letters on the crossword ticket to spell words. The prizes increase with the number of words spelled.
Brasfield, 28, said she was attracted to the game because it was new. She doesn’t play often, and while she also won $10 on the other ticket she purchased, she won’t be spending all of her winnings on Lottery tickets. Brasfield said she would pay bills and buy a new car with the windfall.
When asked if she would do something special for herself, she added, “Just take a vacation probably. I want to go on a cruise.”
Brasfield gave the experience a thumbs-up.
“It was all right. I liked it,” she declared.
” is a $5 game that officially began Dec. 6, 2011. This is the first $5 version of the popular game offered in Missouri. Brasfield claimed the first of five top prizes available in the game. Track prizes remaining for this and any Scratchers game here at Molottery.com.
