St. Clair Woman Uncovers $50,000 Lottery Prize
Ruth Dankert of St. Clair was happy with her decision to buy a Missouri Lottery ticket. She uncovered a $50,000 top prize that made her jump and shout.
“I just stopped at a store and decided to buy a ticket,” Dankert explained. “Almost didn’t buy it, decided to buy it, bought it, went home to scratch it, and there it was!”
The regular player has won smaller prizes before, and even though the win came a few weeks prior to claiming the prize on Dec. 29, Dankert said the experience amounted to “a good day.”
She plans to spend some of the money helping her daughter care for her new grandson, who arrived earlier than expected.
“And I’m going to go see my mom in North Carolina,” she continued. “I haven’t seen her in six years, so I’m going to see my mom.”
Dankert, 60, suggested other players try for a big prize.
“Play,” she said. “You can’t win if you don’t play, right?”
Dankert bought her winning “Nutcracker Cash” Scratchers ticket at MPC, 495 S. Highway 47, in Union.
