St. Charles Man Finds Missouri Lottery Cash in Stocking
Ronald Cordsiemon II of St. Charles said it’s become a tradition to find Missouri Lottery Scratchers in his Christmas stocking, but he was surprised when one of them revealed a $50,000 top prize. Cordsiemon unwrapped the treasure on Christmas morning. His family had just finished opening presents when he began to scratch a “Nutcracker Cash” Scratchers ticket.
“I was real happy. I had just won a $10 ticket prior to scratching this one off, so I was getting ready to brag about my $10 before that happened,” he recalled.
Cordsiemon doesn’t play the Lottery that often, so he turned to an old pro, his father, to verify the win.
“I kind of explained the whole ticket to him,” said Cordsiemon. “And I knew he would know what I was talking about. He said, ‘Sounds like a winner to me.’”
Following that vote of confidence, the Cordsiemon living room erupted into a “happy dance.”
“Well, it went from good to great,” Cordsiemon said of Christmas. “After we decided it was a winner, we all jumped up, gave each other high-fives and danced around.”
Cordsiemon suspects his wife, Amie, was his secret Santa. The ticket was purchased at Mobil On The Run, 1401 S. Fifth St. in St. Charles, before Christmas. The family traveled to the St. Louis Lottery office on Dec. 27 to claim the prize.
The 38-year-old Department of Agriculture employee said the money might finance a move closer to his work on a research farm.
“My wife has already got plans on looking for a different home,” he said. “It was something we were talking about before, but this will accelerate the process.”
“It was definitely a nice Christmas,” he concluded.
,” a $3 game that officially began Oct. 22, features a top prize of $50,000. Non-winning holiday-themed Missouri Lottery Scratchers were eligible for entry in a second-chance promotion.
