Spanish Lake Man Reels In $100,000
Craig Chapman of Spanish Lake said he sometimes buys Missouri Lottery tickets and then puts them aside until he has a sunny day on the front porch. He bought a “Silver Bells” Scratchers ticket a few weeks ago before sitting down on the porch to scratch it.
“I do that a lot,” began Chapman. “I’ll lay the ticket around. I might not scratch it for a day - maybe three days - later.”
When he did scratch the ticket he purchased at MPC, 11546 Larimore Road in St. Louis, he was more than shocked by the $100,000 prize.
“I’m speechless,” said Chapman. “I got real quiet – thinking and thinking. I’m just thanking God.”
The retired laborer said he would use the windfall to pay bills and taxes.
Chapman, 52, said he was drawn to the game, in part, by the colors on the ticket.
“Because I like the Christmas colors,” he explained. “I always get the new tickets when the holidays come around.”
” is a $5 game with a top prize of $100,000. The game officially began Oct. 22 and is one of five holiday-themed games eligible for entry in the “Cash Away, Cash Away, Cash Away All!” second-chance promotion
