Family Affair: Desloge Man's Sons Help Him Win $50,500 Lottery Prize

A Desloge man has his three sons partly to thank for selecting the winning numbers from the Missouri Lottery’s Show Me Cash drawing on Oct. 23. Larry Upchurch, 71, used a combination of his and his children’s birthdays to match all five numbers drawn:  3, 5, 11, 13 and 29. The feat enabled Upchurch to pocket a $50,500 prize.

“I’m thanking the good Lord, because it really helped me out,” said Upchurch, who added that he plans to “pay up a few bills” with the windfall.

Upchurch purchased the winning Show Me Cash ticket at 7-Eleven, 300 N. Desloge Dr., in Desloge. The total jackpot amount from the Oct. 23 drawing was $101,000. Two tickets sold matched the winning numbers, earning each player half of the advertised jackpot – $50,500.

Show Me Cash offers a rolling jackpot starting at $50,000, which increases by at least $5,000 at each drawing.
