Celebration in Store for Lottery-Winning Couple

Story Photo audio icon It’s been an exciting year for Kathy and William Orlick of Gravois Mills. The couple celebrated 36 years of marriage and the feat of turning a long-time dream into a reality – winning a Missouri Lottery Scratchers prize. The pair uncovered $5,000 on a “Nutcracker Cash” ticket they purchased at Lake Oasis, 114 N. Main, in Laurie.

Kathy explained that the couple often visits the Lottery’s website – Molottery.com – to read about winners and ask, “How’d they do that?” The answer is luck, and some of it rubbed off on the Orlicks, whose story is now among the ones they’ve been reading online for years.

“I look probably about once a week at who has won,” said Kathy, who plans to contribute a portion of the prize money to her favorite charity, the Christmas Angels.

In addition to donating, the Orlicks intend to make it a “better Christmas” for their four children, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Nutcracker Cash,” a $3 ticket with a top prize of $50,000, officially began on Oct. 22.

Players can enter non-winning “Nutcracker Cash” tickets into the “Cash Away, Cash Away, Cash Away All!” second-chance promotion for a chance to win up to $15,000 cash.
