Clinton Firefighter Collects 'Red Hot' Prize
Jimmie Reid of Clinton leads a fast-paced life as a firefighter and father-of-two. However, the 31-year-old will be getting some “stress relief,” thanks to winning a $77,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery “Red Hot and Wild 7’s” Scratchers ticket.
The sporadic Lottery player said he only purchased the game at Slugger’s 66 Service, 1805 E. Ohio in Clinton, because he overheard a fellow customer talking about winning a $100 prize while waiting in line. He decided to try his luck.
“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” Reid said, recalling the moment he uncovered the prize amount in the store’s parking lot. “I was staring at the ticket for about 10 minutes.”
After getting over the initial shock, Reid drove to his home to share the news with his family.
“I was dancing with my baby girl in the living room,” he said with a laugh.
As for plans for the prize money, Reid has a few ideas.
“I’m going to pay off my truck, pay down my house and invest the rest,” he explained.
