FORD EMPLOYEE WINS $100,000 USING NUMBERS FROM START DATE

An inspector for the Ford Motor Co. discovered he held a Powerball ticket worth $100,000 from the Oct. 10 drawing. David Gonzales, 43, of Kansas City said the winning numbers he picked are a combination of the date he started working for Ford on Jan. 16, 1978, in California. The winning numbers were: 1, 7, 8, 16 and 19. Gonzales and his wife, Rose, plan to use the windfall to pay part or all of their home mortgage. They also would like to pay off their car and maybe buy another one, and take a trip to California to visit their family. The couple plan to invest what is left over. Gonzales purchased his winning ticket at King Super Store, 17 N.E. 69 Highway in Claycomo. To date, 566 Powerball tickets worth $100,000 have been sold in Missouri since the game began in April 1992.
