Anthony Hackworth, 55, is a regular at Sherrill’s Mini-Mart, Highway 49 in Annapolis, but there was nothing “regular” about his recent experience there. The Annapolis man walked in for a bite to eat and walked out with a Missouri Lottery “$100,000 Payday Bonus” Scratchers ticket worth $100,000.

“I had $20 in my pocket, and I got a soda, a sandwich and a $5 ticket,” he said, explaining that it was a win on that first Scratchers game that led to his big payout.

“It was one of those new ‘Wild 7’s’ (“Red Hot & Wild 7’s”) tickets, and I won $15 on it,” Hackworth continued. “I put $10 of it back in my pocket and then bought this other $5 one.”

He took the newly purchased “$100,000 Payday Bonus” ticket out to his truck to scratch off the latex. As he scratched, he slowly began to realize that he was uncovering the game’s top prize of $100,000.

“I scratched the top row, and all of those were winners,” he shared. “Then I went to the second row, and I’m thinking, ‘Oh, wait a minute.’ By the end, it was $5,000 times 20 – and I just said, ‘Thank you, Lord!’”

Hackworth intends to pay off his truck and attend to other bills with his prize money.

“$100,000 Payday Bonus” is a $5 game that officially began July 2. To date, more than $9 million in prizes remain unclaimed in the game.
