Ronnie Everhart had 30 minutes to kill before his son’s birthday party, so he decided to stop and try his luck on some Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets. A short time later, the truck driver from Columbia was the hit of the party when he arrived holding a ticket worth $25,000.
“I thought I’d buy a couple of tickets and maybe win a couple bucks,” Everhart, 44, said.
He had no idea that the “Aces & 8’s” game that grabbed his attention would produce a win big enough to help his son buy a car.
“Yeah, I told him, ‘I think I figured out what you’re getting for your birthday,’” he shared with a laugh.
Of his ticket selection, Everhart said, “I just usually look down and see which one catches my eye.”
The winning “Aces & 8’s” ticket was purchased at Casey’s, 103 Rt. 00, in Hallsville. “Aces & 8’s” is a $2 game that officially began July 2. To date, more than $4.5 million in prizes remain unclaimed in the game.
