'Gut Feeling' Guides Independence Woman to $100,000 Lottery Prize

Story Photo audio icon An Independence woman has her intuition to thank for leading her to a top prize on a Missouri Lottery “10X The Money” Scratchers ticket. While shopping at Snack Shop, 10507 E. 23rd St. in Independence, Linda Wilkins, said “something told me to get the ticket.” The fifty-three-year-old uncovered the $100,000 prize while at home with her husband.
“I went shouting around the house!” exclaimed Wilkins, recalling the moment she realized she was holding a winning ticket. “I said, ‘Thank you, Jesus,’ all over the house.”
The mother-of-two added that the prize money will “make things easier” for her family.
Plans for the windfall include getting a “clean slate” on her credit report, paying off debt and taking care of medical expenses..
As for advice for fellow Lottery players, Wilkins, who noted that she rarely plays the Lottery, urged, “If you have that feeling, get a ticket!”
“I’m overwhelmed and so blessed,” she concluded.
10X The Money,” a $5 game with a top prize of $100,000, officially began on April 30.
