Perryville Man Wins $250,000 Playing Mega Millions

Story Photo It wasn’t the jackpot, but a Perryville man is more than happy with the second-level prize of $250,000 from the Aug. 5 Mega Millions drawing. Mark Schaaf, 59, matched all five white-ball numbers in the drawing to win the $250,000 prize.

“You just never know,” said Schaaf. “You can’t win if you don’t play.”

Schaaf bought the winning ticket at Jasper’s Smoke Shop, 2018 Lake Dr., in Perryville. The store earned a bonus of $2,500 for selling the winning ticket. The winning numbers for the Aug. 5 Mega Millions drawing were:  6, 24, 28, 33, 42 and the Megaball number was 19.

A group of 22 co-workers in Ohio claimed the winning jackpot ticket from the same drawing worth $99 million.

Mega Millions is a multi-lottery Draw Game with jackpots that start at $12 million. For an extra $1 at the time of purchase, players can add the Megaplier to their ticket and multiply any non-jackpot prizes by the Megaplier number selected during the drawing. For players that match all five white-ball numbers and select Megaplier, the prize is automatically bumped to $1 million.
