Movie Night Turns Into Cash Thriller

Candice Donoho had just settled onto the sofa with her husband, Mark, for a quiet movie night. But the opening credits hadn’t even finished before they were both jumping like hot popcorn. Donoho, of Columbia, purchased a “5 Times Bingo” Scratchers ticket when she rented the movie for the evening. That decision was worth $10,003.

“We started the movie, and I just was just kind of scratching the ticket. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, so I showed it to Mark. We both hopped into the car and went to the store to check the ticket,” explained Donoho.

Donoho, 36, purchased her winning ticket on July 31 at Schnucks Market, 1400 Forum Blvd., in Columbia. She buys Lottery tickets about twice a month and has won as much as $500 in the past.

“This was the biggest prize I’ve ever won. I still can’t believe it,” she exclaimed.

Donoho says she will spend some of the prize money on her 17-year-old twins, pay some bills and put the rest of the money in savings.

When asked if they ever finished watching the movie, Donoho stopped and thought for a moment.

“I don’t even remember the title of the movie.”

The Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket “5 Times Bingo” is a $3 ticket that offers a top prize of $55,555 and a Fast $10 Bonus play.
