Gas Stop Fuels Belleview Man's $20,000 'MONOPOLY' Win

A Belleview man not only filled his car with gasoline, but he also inflated his pockets with cash, thanks to winning a $20,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery “Mega MONOPOLY™” Scratchers ticket. Richard Smith, 55, bought the winning ticket at Roy’s, 220 N. State Highway 21 in Caledonia, in mid-July.

Smith explained that he has won between $500 and $1,000 in Scratchers prizes before, but his most recent win is his largest prize to date.

“Everybody in town knew about it by the end of the day,” said Smith.

The father-of-three plans to put the windfall “in the bank.”

Mega MONOPOLY,” a $10 game with a top prize of $2 million, officially began on Aug. 29, 2009.
