Imperial Man's Soda Stop Quenches Thirst and Then Some
A retiree from Imperial received some shocking news when he stopped at QuikTrip, 3700 Jeffco in Arnold, for a soda and to check his Powerball ticket from the July 20 drawing. First-time Missouri Lottery winner William Wieberg said he had grown accustomed to seeing, “Sorry, not a winner,” appear on the Lottery’s check-a-ticket machines at convenience stores. When he scanned his Quick Pick Powerball ticket and read that he had won a $10,000 prize, he wasn’t sure what to think.
“I checked it three times,” said Wieberg, who eventually asked a clerk to scan the ticket, too. “Her eyes got so big, and she told me it was definitely a big winner.”
The father-of-four and grandfather-of-three said he and his wife of 46 years, Janice, plan to use the windfall to “take a small trip.” Whatever is left will go to home projects and savings.
is a multi-lottery game with jackpots starting at $20 million. The winning numbers from the July 20 drawing were: 1, 4, 38, 40 and 42. The Powerball number was 17. Wieberg was one of two Missouri winners that matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball number to win $10,000.
