Vichy Traveling Nurse Picks Up $100,000 Top Prize
Joanna Biggs, a 35-year-old traveling nurse, is about to live “debt free” after uncovering a top prize on a Missouri Lottery “$100,000 Payday Bonus” Scratchers ticket. Due to the nature of Biggs’ profession, she often stops at Casey’s General Store, 402 S. Highway 28 in Belle, “in between my patients.”
“I won $100 from that same Casey’s on the same game a week ago,” Biggs explained.
Biggs figured that she’d “give it a shot” again.
“I went outside, and I started scratching it off, and there it was!” she recalled.
In a state of disbelief, she joked that her first thought was that “something is wrong” with the ticket.
“I took it inside, and I was like, ‘You have to check this!’” she recalled. “I was freaking out.”
After confirmation from the store manager, Biggs and store employees started “hugging and high-fiving.”
“I called my husband balling and laughing at the same time,” she added. “I said, ‘You’re not going to believe this. Get the kids ready. We’re going to Jefferson City!’”
After rescheduling a few of her appointments and picking up her husband and children from their home in Vichy, the Biggs family was in the car and on their way to claim their $100,000 prize.
“We’re paying off everything!” said Biggs, when asked about plans for the windfall. “It’s going to feel pretty good.”
“We have five children, so this will really free a lot of things up for us.”
“$100,000 Payday Bonus," a $5 Scratchers ticket offering a top prize of $100,000, officially began July 2.
