Josh Henry of Rolla has claimed a $5,000 Scratchers prize after presenting a winning “$100,000 Payday Bonus” ticket at Missouri Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City.
“I liked the extra game on the back,” the 24-year-old asphalt worker said, explaining that he was drawn to the new game that offers scratch-off play areas on both the front and the back of the ticket. “And the back’s what I won $5,000 on.”
Having stopped for a soda at Midwest Petroleum, 1903 N. Bishop Ave. in Rolla, it had been a last-minute decision to purchase the Scratchers ticket.
“I was just scratching it off and riding down the road, and then I had to do a double take,” he shared about the moment, just a few minutes later, when he realized his ticket was a winner.
Henry plans to look around for a while and then put his prize money towards the purchase of a newer vehicle.
“$100,000 Payday Bonus," a $5 Scratchers ticket offering a top prize of $100,000, officially began July 2. In addition to the seven remaining top prizes, thousands of prizes between $5 and $20,000 remain unclaimed.
