FERGUSON BAR OWNER WINS $25,000

A Ferguson woman can pay off her credit cards and her truck loan after winning $25,000 tax paid* in the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 game on Aug. 4. Mimi Fowler, 41, said she was making a pizza delivery and she decided to stop at Vickers, 1210 S. Florissant in Cool Valley, where she bought some lottery tickets. She found out that night that one of her tickets was worth $25,000 cash. "I already went on a $100 shopping spree," Fowler told lottery officials when she claimed her prize on Tuesday. Fowler is the owner of Mimi’s Subway Bar and Grill in Ferguson and Mimi’s Pizzaria to Go in Cool Valley. She let the computer pick the winning combination. Those numbers were: 1, 9, 19, 23 and 28. To date, 892 tickets worth $25,000 tax paid* have been sold since the SHOW ME 5 game began six years ago. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
