Speedy Stop in St. Joseph Leads to Quick Cash in Pocket

Story Photo audio icon Thirty-four-year-old Stephenie Embrey of St. Joseph is planning to “get new tires” on her vehicle with a $5,000 windfall she received after uncovering a top prize on a Missouri Lottery “$5,000 Payday” Scratchers ticket. The full-time student and mother-of-three bought the winning ticket on a whim while getting gasoline at Speedy Convenience, 1704 Mitchell Ave. in St. Joseph, on June 14.

Embrey, a first-time Lottery winner, noted that after she got over the initial shock of winning a Lottery prize, she felt “really excited.”

$5,000 Payday,” a $1 game with a top prize of $5,000, officially began on April 30.
