A team of co-workers from the Carrollton area has been selected as the Missouri Lottery’s June Team of the Month as part of the Lottery’s ongoing Captains Club promotion. “The Ten Dead Presidents” team formed when the group of factory workers decided – more than a decade ago – to pool their resources to play Powerball. Now they play twice each week, whether the jackpot is $20 million, $200 million or even higher.
“The Ten Dead Presidents” include: Stephanie Hays of Bogard; Rhonda Helston, Danny Hudgens, Denise Stottlemyre, Tim Stottlemyre and Regina Weeks, all of Carrollton; Joe Finley of Norborne; and Jesse Anderson, Mendy Marmoy and Chris Teat, all of Richmond.
Denise Stottlemyre, who serves as the team’s captain and organizer, said they’ve been buying Powerball tickets together since 2000.
“Our team is made up of 10 people, and we want to win big money,” she shared of the team’s unusual name. “And we play every week, Wednesday and Saturday, no matter what the pot is.”
Stottlemyre purchases the group’s Quick Pick tickets at a variety of local retail locations and cites their desire to “hit it big” and retire as a reason they continue to play.
“Keep playing and dreaming,” she said, when asked to provide advice for other Lottery teams.
As the Lottery’s Team of the Month, “The Ten Dead Presidents” will receive a prize package of Lottery merchandise, as well as a feature on the Lottery’s official website. To tell us about your team, or learn more about Powerball and other Missouri Lottery games, visit Molottery.com.
