Park Hills Man Uses Lottery Prize to Pay Off Home Mortgage

Story Photo audio icon A Park Hills man is about to say “goodbye” to his monthly home mortgage, and “hello” to some extra cash. Edward Davidson, 45, used Quick Pick to match all five numbers drawn in the Missouri Lottery’s Show Me Cash drawing on May 23, winning the $98,000 jackpot.

With paying off his home as his prime motivation for playing Show Me Cash, the employee at Ms. B’s, 1 Chat Road in Leadington, said he “plays every day” before his shift.

When Davidson “checked the numbers after work,” his first word was, “Wow!”

The first-time Lottery winner said his co-worker’s jaw “pretty much hit the counter” when she saw the prize amount.

“She was more excited than I was, because I was still in shock,” he recalled.

Davidson explained that he is known to “pull a leg here and there,” so many of his family members and friends didn’t believe the news about the win.

In addition to paying off his home, the canine enthusiast said his home guard dog will be getting a few extra treats.

“I’m pretty happy,” he beamed.

Show Me Cash offers a rolling jackpot starting at $50,000, which increases by at least $5,000 at each drawing. Davidson was the 141st Show Me Cash jackpot winner since the game began on Sept. 8, 2008. The winning numbers from the Show Me Cash drawing on May 23 were:  4,7, 11, 25 and 34.

For an extra $1 at the time of purchase, players can add EZ Match to their Show Me Cash ticket and win cash prizes instantly.
